The temple is a significant pilgrimage site, symbolizing devotion and penance. Sacred Structures: Temple History and Architecture
The Savitri Temple, though modern in construction, holds idols of Savitri and Gayatri that are believed to date back to the 7th century AD. The temple itself was built by the Bangar family in the early 20th century. In recent times, a ropeway facility has been added, making the temple more accessible to visitors. The tradition of worship at the temple underscores the precedence of Savitri, as the first aarti (ritual) is always performed at her temple before being conducted at the Gayatri temple.
