Panch-Kund & Jamdagni Kund

Panch Kund, located approximately 2.5 km east of Pushkar, is a revered site dedicated to the five Pandavas and Lord Krishna. Despite being less than a century old, the five kunds—Naga, Surya, Ganga, Padama, and Chakra—are ancient and hold significant spiritual value. The Naga Kund is particularly notable for its association with black snakes; it is believed that bathing in this kund provides immunity from snake bites. Each kund is revered for its unique attributes and the spiritual benefits it offers to devotees.Situated about 2.5 km from Naukhandi Hanuman on the main Ajmer-Pushkar road, Jamdagni Kund is located on Nag Pahar, above the Devrani Jethani Baori. This site is known for its vibrant ashram, which was once led by the late Naga Arjun Baba, a former magistrate and judge from Bangladesh. The temple, characterized by its modern construction and blue-and-white paint, is a scenic spot. It is especially significant during the second and third days of Deepawali, when it is believed that the Yamuna River sends water to the Jamdagni Kund, making bathing here particularly auspicious.

Sacred Structures: Temple History and Architecture

Jamdagni Kund is named after the sage Jamdagni, who was known for his divine powers. Jamdagni was gifted with a Vaishnava Chapa (bow) and received an umbrella and sandals from Surya to protect him from the heat. His divine cow, Kamdhenu, could feed thousands and was the cause of his murder by rivals. However, his son Parashuram revived him and embarked on a campaign of revenge against the Kshatriyas. The site is thus imbued with rich mythological history and spiritual significance.
