Pushkar Fair 2022

Pushkar Fair - the mela provides a chance to witness Rajasthan's rich culture and traditions. It is an opportunity to see farmers, traders, and villagers from all over the state come together to celebrate.

The Pushkar fair is one of the biggest events in India for trading camel, horse, and cattle. But it's not only about the livestock - it's also an important pilgrimage season for Hindus who go to the Pushkar lake. In recent years, the Pushkar fair has become a big tourist attraction for people from all over the world because of the cooler season and all the vibrant colors and cultural events. There are competitions for things like dances, tug-of-war, and even longest moustache. And don't forget the camel races!

Pushkar Fair 2022 is one of the most awaited events of the year, and it's especially so after the Covid restrictions. Thousands of people travel to Pushkar Lake where the fair takes place - men trading their livestock, which includes camels, horses, cows, sheep and goats; and rural families shopping at the handicraft stalls full of bracelets, clothes, textiles and fabrics. A camel race starts off the festival, with music, songs and exhibitions to follow. Between these events, the most awaited is the test of how camel is able to bring the items.

If you find yourself in India during the first week of November, be sure to check out the Pushkar Camel Fair in Pushkar! The fair usually lasts for five to eight days, ending on the full moon in Kartik, called Kartik Poornima.
